Full Circle Memorial Urn

This is not the definitive narrative on this urn. There is so much I want to say about it and I will, properly, some day.

To keep it short, for now, this box will be the final resting place for both of my grandparents at Arlington National Cemetery. My grandpa, a Vice Admiral, and my grandma, an Arlington Lady -- among many, many, many other things, deserve the best I could do, and this was it.

My grandpa was born at his family home in 1937 in an old Half Tester bed. This bed and bedframe stayed within the family, including being my Mum's bed throughout her childhood, and remained at my grandparents home until both of their passing. As it goes with antique furniture and spatial constraints, we decided I should take the bed frame and use the lumber for projects, because honestly, that's what they both would want.

In doing so, it felt blatantly obvious what I needed to do: build their urn out of the lumber from this bed frame. So I took the golden tulip poplar, and a walnut panel from the headboard to create this urn.

For my grandma, Colleen Hanner Truly, I've added a bird brand, in addition to her connection with this lumber. And for my grandpa, Richard Harrison Truly, he was born with this wood, and now he will be laid to rest with it.
